JUNE UPDATE
Well it is finally here! This is the month
for Vacation Bible School. This year VBS will be June 7-11th
from 9:30am - 12:30pm. The theme this year will be Galactic
Blast: A Cosmic Adventure Praising God. While early registration
has passed, there is still time for you to register. General
and late registration is going on now. The cost for general
and late registration is $15.00 per student or $25.00 for
a family of three or more. You are invited to spend a week
aboard the starship Galactic Praise to see the awesome universe
and our awesome God in a whole new way. Each day’s mission
includes a Bible story in the Good News Galaxy, craft projects
at Cosmic Crafts, and a snack at the Astro Bistro. Also, there
will be music at Moons and Tunes and science projects at the
Orbital Observatory. The ages for spaceship cadets are 4 years
old to 12. See you all on Monday, June 7th.
Dates for Summer Camp at Mingus Mountain
for children and youth have been set and can be obtained by
going to www.desertsouthwestconference.org/camps or call the
church. Registration, health and consent forms can be secured
online or at the church office. The deadline for regular registration
has passed, but you can still register with a $25 late fee.
Camp dates are as follows: Senior High (grades 10-12) June
7-12. Elementary Camp (grades 3-6) June 14-19. Super Camp
(grades 3-9) June 28-July 3. Junior High Camp (grades7-9)
July 5-10 and Super Camp 2 July 12-17. Check the bulletin
boards in the Education Building for all camp dates and other
information regarding the summer camps.
Camperships: If you would like to help a
child attend summer camp or be able to attend VBS this year,
you can give to the Campership program. Any donation, no matter
the size, will be gratefully accepted. Just mark your envelope
“Campership”. Families who need help with camp
tuition and/or VBS please contact me at the church. A very
special thanks to all who contribute to this very worthy fund.
Transportation Help Needed: If you have
a large van or SUV and could take 4 youth to summer camp at
Mingus Mountain, please call the church and talk with me.
This would involve taking the campers to the camp on Monday,
July 12th and picking them up on Sat., July 17th. Gas money
will be provided.
Summer Outreach Program-The “U-Can
and Bears Club” was born in the heat of the summer last
year right after VBS and will continue this summer and throughout
the year. However, they will take a week off for VBS, then
resume each week for the rest of the summer months on Weds.
at 4:00 pm. Under the direction of Linda Walker and Joan Siersma,
these Wednesday clubs have grown to include as many as 17
children from the church and community. This program brings
children together from many different backgrounds for fun,
crafts and Bible stories. Please pray for the workers and
the outreach of this community ministry.
