May is here! The desert is in bloom., the weather is warm,
life is good! This is a great month to get out and enjoy God’s
beauty throughout Arizona – from the desert to the mountains.
The Chancel Choir will continue singing through July. Many
of you like to sing with us only during the summer, so now
is the time to come join us on Thursday evenings at 6:50 pm
in the Music Room. If you can sing on pitch and read music,
please come join us. We have more fun than we probably should
have in church!
Our last Performing Arts Series event features our own special
cellist, Shirley Coad in a celebration of her seventy years
of playing the cello! This is an incredible accomplishment!
The celebration/concert will be on Sunday, May 1 at 3:00 pm
in the Sanctuary. Open to everyone, a freewill offering will
be received, all of which will go to the Youth Mission Trip
this summer. So, come celebrate Shirley and her friends, and
bring lots of money for the youth!
Now that tax season is over, if you have some money you don’t
know what to do with, I sincerely hope you will consider our
project to add pipes to our organ. Our decision deadline for
Ruffatti’s current pipe quote, and Heritage Organs generous
offer of a new console is the 10th of this month. If you have
any questions or would like to donate a substantial gift,
please give me or Pastor Fred a call at the church.
On a personal note, I will finally have surgery to replace
my left ankle on May 16. I have lost all the cartilage in
it and playing the organ pedals is becoming increasingly painful.
If you think about it that day (Monday), please say a prayer
that my surgeon does what he needs to do so I can get back
to my favorite instrument in my favorite place quickly and
as painlessly as possible. Thanks in advance!
