Music Notes
I am writing this the day before I leave for a 9-Day trip
to Hawaii. I know, “rough job, but someone’s gotta
do it!” In addition to Martha, I’m also bringing
my daughter Regina and Son-in-Law Mark Bower. This month Regina
will receive her MD from Stanford Medical School then begins
a 7-year residency at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota
– Pediatric Neurosurgery. Mark, her husband, is a neurphysiologist
who will also work at Mayo Clinic. His research specialty
is Epilepsy. Needless to say, I am a very proud papa. In taking
them on this cruise, I feel like I did the first time I took
Regina to Disneyland!
My sincere thanks to Linda Jones for playing the organ and
directing the choir for me while I was gone, to Marty Robison
for playing piano while Nancy was gone and to John Nuss for
also directing the choir for me while Linda and I were away.
My thanks certainly to the choir, who will continue singing
every week through July. What a bunch of talented people we
have in this church!
Well, we are now certainly in the time of year for people
taking trips – graduations, weddings, vacations, traveling
to summer homes, etc. What a blessing to be able to see the
wonders and beauty of God’s creation as we travel. Don’t
be in such a hurry to get there that you miss the blessings
of God’s gifts “on the way!” Yeah, stop
and smell the roses! [I am telling this to me as much as suggesting
to you!]

Doug Benton,
Director of Music Ministries
