“Reclaiming the Wesleyan Tradition”
John Wesley’s Sermons for Today
Beginning June 8
Sunday nights at 6:00 pm in the Music Room.
This 13 week series explores Wesley’s “Way of
Salvation” by thoroughly reading and discussing his
sermons on topics such as salvation, sin, grace, justification,
sanctification, ethical living and the work of Jesus Christ.

Mother, Daughter, Friend Luncheon
Reflections of Character
Reflect on the most memorable characters in your life. Our
annual Mother, Daughter, Friend luncheon will be reflections
of comforts in the friendships we treasure, to food we share
and the ideas we express.
Plan to join your family and friends on May 10th at 11:30
am in the Koinonia Room. Tickets will be on sale before and
after services and are $8.00 for adults and $4.00 for children.
Our speaker, Ardis Larson, will share her thoughts on how
we reflect character. She will introduce her created characters,
Fontella, The Viking Queen, Mrs. Claus and Granny.
The Page Turners
The Page Turners Book Club meets the fourth Monday each month
at 2 p.m. in each other’s homes. We are a
club of a diverse group of ladies who read the same book and
then discuss it. The book selection for May is
The Cape Ann by Faith Sullivan. This will be our
last meeting until the fall. Questions? Please

SCHOOL OF CHRISTIAN MISSION

Weekend Event – July 25-27, 2008
Chaparral Suites Resort, Scottsdale
Great studies and study leaders, time for fellowship, crafts,
quiet time, and worship are what you are in store for at the
2008 School of Christian Mission. The studies being
offered this year are Israel and Palestine, lead by Reverend
Larry Gerber; Giving Our Hearts Away: Native American
Survival, led by Julia Tulloch from Women’s Division,
and I Believe in Jesus, led by Bishop Minerva Carcano.
Those attending the whole School will choose either Israel
and Palestine or Giving Our Hearts Away. All adults
attending the School or the weekend Event will participate
in I Believe In Jesus. If you would like a registration

New Adult Computer Class
Although many may not know it, our church has a bank of computers
in the Education Building. Bud Rolley will be offering to
teach the basics of using a computer, as well as advanced
operations. Bud has spent over 30 years in the electronics
industry, where he did circuit design of central office equipment,
designing of memory systems, and computer programming. He
has also taught beginning computing, specializing in the use
of Microsoft Word and Excel. Please note there is no connection
to the Internet at the present time.
Some suggested classes are:
Computer Basics – Beginning instruction
on the operation of the computer
Microsoft Word – Word processing, how
to create a document or add special features
Microsoft Excel – Spreadsheet, how
to set up for calculations and special projects.
If any of these classes appeal to you or you have an interest
in other computer subjects, please visit the “Scrip”
table in the East Narthex on Sunday mornings beginning mid-October
and complete an interest form. The class/es will be scheduled
based on the results.

USED BOOKS FOR SALE—
This is a fundraiser for future programs of the United Methodist
Women. The sale will be held the first three Sundays in April.
It will take place between services in the coffee area. Books
will sell for 50 cents per paperback and $1.00 per hardcover.
