JUNE UPDATE
MISSION TRIP 2010
This year’s mission trip will be to Mescalero,
New Mexico. Mescalero had a population of around 1,233
during the 2000 census. It is home to the Mescalero
Apache reservation. This year we will be participating
in a “challenge” workcamp. A challenge workcamp
is a bit more difficult and involves building or repairing
porches, wheelchair ramps and steps, roof repairs, weatherization
and other home repairs. We could be building a wheelchair
ramp for a disabled widow or fixing a porch for a single
mom and her kids.
Because we are participating in a challenge the cost
is a bit more than in the past. We need to raise $13,000
to cover the cost of the trip. This will pay for our
transportation, gas, food, lodging, and building supplies
for the project. As in the past, we invite you to become
a shareholder. This means that you will be invited to
our annual shareholder dinner before our trip and our
dessert night, once we return, to hear all about it.
